Too much of the trail-camera content online is ad placement dressed up as journalism. Paid rankings, undisclosed affiliate bias, rewritten manufacturer copy, AI-generated roundups that never touched a real user review. We built this site to be the opposite.

Every score on this site is derived from a consistent 6-dimension scoring system applied the same way to a $50 camera and a $600 camera. We cover SPYPOINT, Browning, Tactacam, Moultrie, RECONYX, Bushnell, Stealth Cam, Cuddeback, and every other major brand. Our database is 40 cameras and growing, no brand is excluded because they’re small; no brand is featured because they paid.

Here’s the honest truth about how this site works: we don’t mount dozens of cameras on trees every season. No independent site can, real-world field testing at scale costs tens of thousands of dollars in equipment alone, and cameras age out of the catalog before a proper multi-year test could conclude.

What we do instead is aggregate. Every camera on this site is evaluated using official manufacturer specifications, thousands of verified Amazon review data points, and hunting forum field reports. We believe aggregating that volume of real-world user data produces more accurate scores than any single reviewer’s 30-minute hands-on session.

The tradeoff is that we can’t tell you how a camera feels in your hand, or rate the precise click quality of its buttons. We document what we can verify; we don’t score what we can’t. The methodology page spells out every dimension, every weight, every limit.
